Portland High School Library serves approximately 1100 students in grades 9-12.  The library is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 A.M. to 3:15 P.M.  There are two librarians, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.  LIBRARY COLLECTION


The library contains approximately 12,000 books, with the circulation and catalog systems being automated.  Books can be checked out for a two week period and may be renewed.

We are primarily a research library, providing access to both print and non-print resources. Students have access to The Tennessean, The Portland Leader, and The News Examiner newspapers, and 85 magazines. Our online resources can be accessed from school computers as well as students' home computers.  These resources are The Tennessee Electronic Library and The Encyclopedia Britannica Online (use the username "phslibrary" and the password "panthers").

A bookstore is available all day for school supplies such as paper, pencils, pens, posterboard, folders, and more.

COMPUTER LAB


Students have access to 29 computers in the computer lab and 6 computers in the library.  All computers have Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and access to the Internet.
